Alternate Ways To Travel Efficiently And Effectively

Lots of people fantasize about taking trips all over the world. While it’s nice to daydream about all the wonderful places to explore, all the most memorable vacations begin with proper planning and knowledge. The following advice will help you get the absolute most out of your adventures to new places.

To receive the best service when traveling, tip generously at the beginning of the trip. If the bellboy or steward knows that you tip well, they will be more likely to tend to your needs. Especially on cruises, you’ll receive more personal attention and better service from the staff if you’re seen as generous.

Pack your luggage in such a way that it can be easily carried, even for fairly long distances. You’ll be walking with your luggage more often than you might think. A lighter bag will make your trip easier, safer and much more fun for you than if you are lugging a heavy case.

If you absolutely cannot leave “Fluffy” at home, find a vacation that will let you bring her! Pet-friendly vacations are becoming popular, with many accommodations offering special deals for “pet parents.” Some of these include doggy day-cares, cat spas, and even pet-friendly cruises. Don’t be afraid to bring your furry pals with you- just make sure they are allowed before you do.

On your next flight, chew gum to keep your ears from popping on take off. The pressure changes during a flight can pop your ears. This is not particularly painful. It is, however, rather annoying. Before take off, start chewing a stick of gum. This will often prevent your ears from popping or at least, ease the pressure.

If you are planning on traveling in the coming months, keep your eye out for promotional deals online through various discount travel sites. By signing up through a discount site and entering desired travel destinations and dates into their database, you will receive emails that will alert you when there are especially low prices or good promotions to your next intended destination.

If you have a fear of flying and need a drink to help you relax on the plane, always make sure that you add two drinks of water to that one alcoholic beverage. The worst thing you can do is drink too much on a plane and get sick or dehydrated.

If you plan to stay more than one night in a hotel room, bring a cheap over-the-door organizer for shoes or jewelry. Instead of filling it with shoes, you can use the pockets to store your toiletries, room key, camera, phone and any other objects which might easily get lost in the fray. The clear pockets make it easy to find things, in seconds.

Pack a multi-tool knife in your luggage. The scissors can cut through zip ties, and the corkscrew is perfect for impromptu wine tastings. When you reach your destination and unpack, make sure this multi-purpose tool goes with you wherever you go. Don’t put it in your carry-on though, as the airline won’t allow it on your person in flight.

Pay special attention to the holidays of the countries you are traveling to. Different countries celebrate different holidays, and if you do not know when these are, you can give yourself a headache. Many restaurants and businesses will close on holidays, so look them up before you travel to save yourself the trouble.

It is helpful to label your power cords when you are traveling. Most people travel with a lot of different electronic devices. Not all of them will need to be constantly plugged in, so many people invariably leave one of the cords behind. If you write your name and phone number on masking tape and wrap the tape around your power cord, you have a much better chance of getting it back.

Read several reliable travel forums. These forums have come a long way in recent years and can be quite informative about the potential destinations on your list. Take some time to read many of the posts on the site to find out what to expect when you get to your travel destination.

With the information that was presented in this article, it is quite plain to see that traveling does not have to be a huge hassle. All you have to do is put these techniques to use and you can actually travel stress free. So do not toss and turn, instead just get yourself ready to go.

It’s important to plan ahead when traveling by air. Major airports can be difficult to get to because of long traffic delays. Have your luggage packed the night before. To reduce your pre-flight anxiety, prepare for your trip well in advance. It feels terrible to miss your flight.

Avoid The Pitfalls Of Travel And Have The Time Of Your Life

Travel is a fantastic thing to do. It broadens your horizons, lets you meet new people and see new places and it is a great way to take some time off to relieve stress and blow off steam. Travel can also be difficult and dangerous, however. Read on to find out what you need to know when traveling.

If you are traveling to another country brush up on that country’s laws. Some foreign countries have laws that you might view as a little strange or not expect. As a precaution, it is always a good idea to familiarize yourself with the laws specific to the place you are visiting.

If you wish to travel abroad, try learning about the language. You can easily find small guides that contain all the essential words, in case you get lost or need something. Do not assume that everybody will speak English and people will be more friendly if you try speaking their language.

When traveling with a baby, be sure to make a list of the necessary items that you use at home a few days before your trip. Since traveling with a baby is a new travel experience, it is very easy to forget about things you take for granted at home. By working on the list early, you will be able to keep note of everything that you use.

When traveling to poorer or less-developed areas, avoid touching any of the local animals. This obviously includes farm animals, but also covers stray cats and dogs as well as draft or pack animals. You never know what diseases these animals could be carrying, and chances are you don’t have the same immunities as the locals.

When traveling in other countries, be wary of what taxis you get into. Make sure the taxi actually is legitimate before getting in. Any idiots can slap a “Taxi” sign on to their car and you never know who they might be or where they might end up taking you.

Weighing your checked bags before you arrive at the airport can save you money and frustration. Many airlines charge an extra $50 or more for checked bags weighing over 50lbs. This can result in spending more money, or having to leave items behind. Put your luggage on a scale at home before you head to the airport to save yourself a headache!

If you’re going on a road trip, have your car looked over before you leave. Most things can be replaced if they break while you’re out of town, but if your car breaks down you can be in a lot of trouble. It can be expensive to get it fixed or to find a way to your destination or home, that’s more headaches than you need.

If you are traveling by cruise ship, make your arrangements as close to the time of your trip as possible. Although the cruise industry used to advertise that you could only get exceptional savings if you booked in advance, things have changed and last-minute deals are usually better than advanced reservations. There is even a web site that shows cruises with up to 75% savings if you book at the last minute.

If you know you are going to be travelling, purchase tickets for your flight at least two months before your dates of travel. The closer to a departure date that you buy, the more expensive the tickets will be. Waiting to purchase tickets close to a flight will only cost you more money.

Remember to bring all necessary paperwork with you when traveling. Other than your passport and identification, it is important that you bring the name, address and phone number of the hotel in which you are staying. Have it readily available in your handbag or or your carry bag, so you can give the taxi driver the appropriate information.

Making use of social media sites like Facebook or Twitter can help you get personalized recommendations while you are on the road. Update your status to ask questions about whatever location you are currently visiting. Ask for restaurant recommendations, advice about the local customs or help navigating the city. You’ll be amazed at how much help you are given.

Traveling is something that most of us love to do, and many of us travel to various locations every chance we get. But it can be expensive and dangerous at times. Make sure you’re following this travel advice before you take your next trip. You’ll be thankful that you did.

It’s important to plan ahead when traveling by air. Major airports can be difficult to get to because of long traffic delays. Have your luggage packed the night before. To reduce your pre-flight anxiety, prepare for your trip well in advance. It feels terrible to miss your flight.

A great way to start for beginners is by using the tips and advice in this article on traveling. Luxury Lodging On A Machu Picchu Tour

If you were thinking that Peru and luxury travel don’t mix, think again. Those with such beliefs will definitely be surprised with the high numbers of quality accommodations that are available in Peru. More importantly, the most popular places like Machu Picchu and Cusco has many top level hotels. Style and exact nature of services will no doubt be different in most hotel, but in each option you will surely have the highest standards of luxury and comfort which is expected by visitors spending considerable amounts for top level hotels. The style is really important to check in advance as you don’t want to be paying out top dollars for a lodge style ambiance, no matter how lush, if you want a boutique hotel.

Machu Picchu

When it comes to luxury with location, it’s not easy to beat the Sanctuary Hotel, the one located right at the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. You don’t get any special privileges with regard to the site but there’s nowhere else you can sit in a Hot tub and gaze out on this world wonder. On another note, some tourists are of the view that accommodations places do not rate the price tag when pitting against the event of moving into the pueblo below. The top level options here are Sumaq hotel and Inkaterra’s Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel. Inkaterra’s property is a deluxe lodge surrounded by private nature trails where one can see a variety of birds and orchids. If you’re looking for a traditional hotel, Sumaq is a good option and has a top level service as well as a restaurant that has got rave reviews from guests. Comfort factors are taken care of in both these hotels along with the amenities and services that tourists would expect when booking this level of accommodation.

A newcomer, set to start in late November 2012, is Casa del Sol. This is a luxury boutique hotel with 28 rooms including three rooms that have their very own private Jacuzzi tubs overlooking the river. Comfort factor is the same when compared to Sumaq and Inkaterra but the price is lower. The one and only drawback of this place is the simple fact that the front side is near to railway tracks and people who like perfect peace at night may prefer the rear side rooms.

Cusco/Sacred Valley

It is like every year a new option is included in luxury accommodation in Cusco. The Palacio Nazarenas hotel which is owned by Orient-Express group was started in the year 2012 having a total of 55 suites for luxury visitors. Another excellent choice if you prefer a suite is Inkaterra’s La Casona. Monasterio is definitely the most talked about entry in this group, however some people feel that the rooms are too small for the price tag, a side effect of being in a historic building and not being able to make changes to the walls. Addititionally there is Casa Cartagena. Plaza Nazarenas is the spot where all these hotels are located and it takes just a small walk to reach Plaza de Armas. Andean Wings and Aranwa are centrally located lodging options built in with a boutique type feel.

If you’re going for Sacred Valley the distinguished choices are Wellness, Libertador’s Tambo del Inca, Hotel Rio Sagrado belonging to Orient-Express and Sacred Valley Hotel by Aranwa. These are all located in or near Urubamba. For those who are looking for beautiful hotels with more of a relaxed and tranquilizing feel the choices boil down to Kuychi Rumi and Sol y Luna. These two feature private lodges or casitas offering lots of privacy and are perfect for small groups traveling together or families.

Finding Luxurious Hotels On A Peru Tour

Peru’s luxury travel industry has grown swiftly over the recent past, especially in the two largest cities; Lima and Arequipa. As in the rest of South America, visitors can experience the very best high end hotel accommodations.

Lima

When it comes to finding yourself in the lap of luxury in Peru’s capital city of Lima, there’s no question that Miraflores Park Resort is where it’s at. A great thing about being at the hotel is that idea that there is close proximity to water as well as popular shopping and dining spots. The property belongs to Orient-Express, a name you’ll quickly learn if you are a luxury traveler. The company Orient Express has two fantastic hotels in Cusco, a state of the art place in the Sacred Valley, a great hotel and the just one that is there at Machu Picchu’s archeological site and what’s more they also have in their arsenal a wonderful European styled train service named as Hiram Bingham operating between the archeological site and Cusco.

Another top choice in Lima having a much different feel, is the Country Club Lima hotel. Located in San Isidro which is close to Miraflores, this is an elegant hotel dating from 1927. All the environment here is quite classic styled which is pretty different from other deluxe 5 star hotels in Lima where you get all of the modern hotel facilities. Beds are large and cozy, there are three presidential suites and you’ll be able to take advantage of the golf course across the way if you so desire. Dining services are also fabulous and most of the guests prefer dining via the hotel’s award winning restaurant when there are no outdoor routines to be pursued.

Arequipa

Surprisingly, for such an upscale kind of city, there are not a lot of choices in the deluxe category. Strictly speaking you’ll find two main options, namely, Hotel Libertador and the Casa Andina Private Collection . The Casa Andina is built on a national historic landmark dating from 1794. It’s an absolutely stunning property where you will feel like you are in the midst of history. To make the most of the character here, be sure to ask for a room in the old section rather than the modern one. Another benefit of staying here is the vicinity with Catalina Convent, that’s one of the areas loved by visitors and also due to the fact that the main square is just 3 blocks away. Casa Andina also possesses one of its Classic hotels here so make sure you are booking the Private Collection if you’d like the luxury experience.

The Libertador is a large and completely modern property. Situated just 5 minutes from the main square, it is the city’s sole 5-star hotel. Apart from the luxury within the rooms there are numerous other facilities such as gym, Jacuzzi, sauna and swimming pool for the guests. You’ll be missing the colonial elements of Casa Andina but apart from that there are all the facilities that you expects from a luxury hotel. For visiting the plaza one has to walk some distance but there are some great views to be observed from the terrace itself without the need to visit anywhere.

Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours in All Price Ranges

One of the best ways to experience the Grand Canyon is by taking a helicopter tour. However, not all flights are created equal, especially when it comes to the time of day in which to fly. Read on and I’ll reveal how to determine the best departure times so you get the most awesome trip possible.

Grand Canyon tour helicopters leave from Las Vegas and from the Grand Canyon Airport, which is about ten miles from the South Rim, in Tusayan, Arizona. You won’t find direct flights from Vegas to the South Rim. To do that, you’ll need to first take an airplane or a bus and then transfer to a helicopter.

Which Rim is for you? If you are looking for adventure, go to the West Rim. Specifically, I’m referring to landing tours that let you add either a helicopter ride to the bottom, a boat cruise on the Colorado River or a stroll on the Grand Canyon Skywalk, the glass bridge that lets you walk 70 feet past the edge.

As for the South Rim, it’s the destination that many call the “official” Grand Canyon. It’s located some 270 miles from Las Vegas and is popular with travelers based in Central Arizona. Helicopters are not allowed to go below the Rim or land at the bottom. However, you will still be able to experience the canyon by flying through the Dragoon Corridor, which is the widest and deepest part of the National Park.

West Rim weather is scorching hot during the summer, with temperatures breaking 100 degrees nearly every day. You’ll want to make sure you have plenty of water and don’t forget the sunscreen, sunglasses, and wide brimmed hat. Long sleeve shirts are recommended as well, and sturdy footwear is necessary since the terrain is rocky. Winters are cooler and relatively mild. During this time, I suggest wearing a beanie, gloves and a medium-weight jacket.

Conditions are different along the South Rim where the summers are cooler. That’s because the elevation is over six thousand feet. You should still bring along sunscreen and plenty of drinking water. South Rim winters are much more extreme. It’s colder here, and the chance of snow is greater. If you want to avoid crowds, the cold months are a good time to visit the South Rim.

Seasons, weather and Rim play a big part in determining when to fly. Early morning flights are popular in the summer. That would include any trips that depart before lunchtime. If you are planning to take a landing tour of the West Rim, then you definitely want to get started early so you can beat the oppressive heat that builds by late afternoon. The same thinking applies to flying from July through September when the Monsoon sweeps into Arizona. That means lots of thunderstorms. They pop up almost every afternoon like clockwork. If you book your Grand Canyon helicopter tour during that time period, chances are good it will get delayed until the storm passes, or it could get cancelled altogether.

In addition, there are two key things to know about morning flights. First, the air is smoother, especially during summer when minor turbulence pick up in the afternoons. Secondly, visibility is better. The summer months are known for being hazy. Forest fires, dust and pollution cause this. The plus side of the debris in the air is that it makes for spectacular sunsets, so that could be another good time of day to fly.

Still, don’t get too upset if morning tours are sold out. Taking a helicopter excursion might be a little bit better during the morning hours, but even if you go later, you will have an unforgettable experience. Just get yourself airborne over the canyon and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

Iquitos – Having The Fun And Excitement Of Peru Amazon Trips

From Iquitos, situated in the northern sector of the Peruvian Amazon, it is the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve that you’ll enter. Iquitos is typically reached by taking a flight from Lima while Puerto Maldonado is accessed more easily from Cusco . The time available will be the major factor as far as travelling schedule is concerned and whether or not you’ll be able to go to other places in Peru.

Iquitos is far bigger than Puerto Maldonado and, actually, has the distinction of being the largest city in the world that cannot be reached via land transport. Arrival to Iquitos can only be made by river or air. Instead of growing due to tourism, this city boomed in the late 1900s due to rubber harvesting. The advent of rubber farms in Malay was the point when this massive growth came to an end but 1960s saw the commencement of another golden era once oil discoveries were made in the region. Recently, tourism has contributed to the city’s vigor.

Flights between Lima and Iquitos take nearly 2 hours. Service is offered to Iquitos by Lan and Star Peru. You also can travel to and from the Brazilian or Columbian border by boat. Boat may also be your means of transportation into the jungle itself.

Because of its unusual location of being a thriving city at the fringe of the jungle, Iquitos is a study in contrasts. Mud huts can be found here as well as mansions. In the adjoining waters, travel services are offered by small native canoes belonging to natives and there are also holiday cruise liners offering lavish services. The mixture of new and old, indigenous and modern, is fascinating and compelling so you may want to allow yourself a couple of days to soak up this unique atmosphere.

If the objective is to connect with local people living according to their traditional ways of life, it is advisable to head off for the northern parts of the jungle as the southern jungle areas are best-known to provide exotic wildlife viewing. In the northern parts you can find ayahuasca which usually is a psychotropic made from vine discovered exclusively in jungle areas.

This is not to say that there isn’t any wildlife to be viewed in the northern region of the Peruvian Amazon. You can easily find unique and exotic types of animals like giant turtles, monkeys, caimans and also various rare species of birds. Among the highlights here are the pink dolphins. It is a general rule for moving out in jungle that farther you move inside into remote areas the chances of seeing wildlife increase. Another option that can be taken is seeing the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve from Iquitos. It’s the largest reserve within Peru and a great area of biodiversity. One of the highlights of the jungle in this region is a canopy walkway, situated high above the jungle floor. It offers an exceptional view for observing the rainforest and its inhabitants.

Tours could be as short as 2 day but if you desire to experience great thrills and unique wonders of nature, try to invest a bit more time so that tours may take you deep into the jungle areas. All quality levels in accommodation are available in the form of numerous lodges. During the tours you’ll be offered many activities to embark upon and consider investing some thought in order to choose those that are of high importance so far as your interests are concerned.

Enjoy Dancing In Peru And Brazil

Rhythmic cultures are best experienced in South America and dance is the most essential element all over the continent. Both Peru and Brazil have exciting dance traditions, that you can explore during a tour of both countries.

Peru’s Dance Culture

The national dance of Peru is the marinera, although not nearly as popular as the tango. Marinera is a lovely and intricate dance that lovers of this art may enjoy learning. Marinera is a highly diversified type of dance and there are 3 distinct and characterized variations namely Marinera Limena, Marinera Serrana and Marinera Nortena . It is the Norteña that is right now the most favorite version. Those willing to learn the dance style can seek help from a few centres that provide lessons in Lima and if you only want to enjoy as a viewer, there are some restaurants and culture groups that have this facility. Avid dance lovers can really have the fun and thrill of participating in dance competitions which are held during the month of January in Trujillo which is situated north of Lima.

Even though Peru has a national dance in the form of marinera there are various places where you can learn salsa within a short time. The good thing is, you don’t even need to pay for lessons. While you are in Cusco, for example, you’ll find that a number of the clubs around the main square (Plaza de Armas) offer free salsa lessons early in the night, normally from around 9:30 to 11:30. This can be a little boring for someone who already knows about how to dance salsa but the instructors are often quite good and generally quite pleased to pair up with someone who isn’t a novice so as to exhibit their own skills better. Due to the popularity of the dance here, you can also find salsa bands performing at a variety of locations. The Muse, for example, generally has a great Cuban salsa band performing on Friday and Saturday nights.

Dancing in Brazil

Amidst a number of options, Samba is a type of dance that is very popular in South America. The place to enjoy this is Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro. Although the roots are from Africa, since it developed there, it has adopted its own distinct style in Brazil, becoming famous on the streets during Carnaval. You may well find that the way you learned this during your ballroom dance studio at home is not quite the hip moving way you will learn it here.

There are various classes available to visitors or, for those more adventurous, they can go to a local school to join in the evening lessons. These are often located in the outskirts of town and definitely not the safest places for out of towners so be sure you do not go on your own. You will take note of the fact that learning Portuguese and samba classes are advertised as a combined package.

In case you are thinking about dance lessons in local academies, an important point to note in this regard is that they have carnival preparation in mind and will practise for the main occasion several times and you have to obtain thorough information about when you can get proper coaching. Visitors can also find local people who provide robust training regarding how to play the instruments used in samba dance. Academies of samba dance are nothing but groups where natives prepare themselves for the upcoming carnival events and samba nights are essential parts of such schools in which everyone can participate.

Gafieiras, that is the local name for Samba dance clubs are mainly found in Lapa district. The whole area has a Bohemian feel to it. It is currently under transformation but as a tourist one should be mindful while travelling across different locations. Roaming in and around the main streets is fine as you are safe in these locations. There will be plenty of other tourists and taxis around. If you want to simply enjoy then you can directly join the popular dance clubs but those willing to demonstrate dancing talent can learn in dance schools so as to showcase their talent in prominent clubs.

There are also times of the years that you can find cheaper cruise deals compared to others. If the ports of call are in their off-season, then you can save on your cruise pretty easily. A good example of this is traveling in November to the Caribbean because this is a time that not very many people travel. In the winter and around holidays cruises tend to be cheaper. However, if you want to take a cruise to an area in Europe, the fall is best.

Another good way to get a cheap cruise is to reserve in between the destinations high and low seasons, especially if you can book a last minute deal. The best time for cruising to Alaska is May and you will find many great deals for this month. However, if differs from one port to another and it really does depend on the destination you choose.

The port you travel out of will also make a difference when it comes to the price of the cruise and the price of your flight. Some discounts come in the form of all inclusive cruising packages, which allow you to pay for everything up front. This means you don’t have to worry about any other costs once you are aboard. Probably the most effective way to save on a cruise is with the last minute booking about two to four weeks before it leaves or even closer. This is when the cruise ships want to fill their last few cabins and make sure they have a full boat before they leave.

Cruises can help you relax as you travel and you can see destinations you never thought you would get to travel to. Just make sure you book your package after comparing a few, so that you get the best price possible. This will help you to have a great vacation and you will end up with one of the best cheap cruises.

Finding The Best Online Carnival Cruise Package

Spending some quality time away from your normal life can easily be achieved by taking a cruise. This can lead to new adventures, plenty of relaxation, and the fun time you deserve. It doesn’t matter if you have never gone on a cruise or if you go all the time, this is a great way to travel and Carnival cruises offers many destinations for you to choose from.

With spring break coming around March, you may want to plan accordingly. At this time of year, many cruises to the warmer weather areas will book up fast and will be full. If you plan to travel in March or even sometimes in April, you need to book your cruise well in advance to ensure you get a spot. This will help to make sure you get exactly what you want out of your cabin and out of your trip.

However, if you don’t want to travel at this time you can find one of the best cruise deals by booking for a different type of the year. You just need to know when to book and decide what you really want out of the cruise you are going to take. Sometimes you can find great last minute deals out of ports like Galveston, Texas or Miami, Florida if you wait until a month before you book your cruise. This can ensure you get a great deal and works well if you want to travel in September.

Carnival provides many different types of cruises including three day, five day, seven day, and even longer. The shorter your cruise, the less expensive it will be, but you will also go to fewer ports. They are a very experienced company and offer more ships in most ports than any other company in the United States offers. This gives you plenty of choices and helps to ensure you are not limited with options. This also helps to keep the cost down and allows you to get a price that you can afford for your cruise.

Most of the time their cruises go to areas in the Caribbean, Europe, and Alaska, but they also travel to Mexico, Hawaii, and a few other islands. If you were to travel to one of these destinations by plane, you would find it to be very expensive. This makes a cruise a wonderful option to see parts of the world you have never seen. You can find a port near you, fly or drive to the port area, get on a boat, and enjoy the open sea while traveling to many great destinations you would not be able to afford to see any other way.

You do want to spend some time reading reviews and finding out the information about the different ships they offer and what amenities they will include. Some ships cater more to families, while others are perfect for adults looking to get away. This will help you to decide on the ship that offers exactly what you want and goes to the places you want to go to.

The atmosphere of the cruise will also vary depending on where you are headed. Those heading to Europe or Alaska will act the same as those heading to a tropical destination, just like a cruise for families will be much different than one for an adult.
